Stabilus S.A. appoints Markus Schädlich to its management board to head Asia business

- Significant potential for growth in Asia in the industrial business as well as the automotive segment through Powerise

Luxembourg/Koblenz, May 25, 2018 - Stabilus S.A. (ISIN: LU1066226637), one of the world's leading suppliers of gas springs, damping solutions and electromechanical drives for motion control, is to add Markus Schädlich (49) to its management board with responsibility for Asia as of July 1, 2018. His key task in the newly established position will be to continue growing Stabilus's business in the Asia region.

Since Stabilus went public in 2014, the company's Asia business has grown each year at double-digit rates, creating a momentum that continues to be a source of sustained opportunities. "Asia is a key growth market for us. The creation of a dedicated management board position to oversee this market is thus a reflection of its special significance. Markus Schädlich will steer future developments in coordination with the local teams which are already successfully operating in the region," noted CEO Dietmar Siemssen.

Markus Schädlich has many years of experience in both the Asian market and the industries targeted by Stabilus. In recent years, he directed the development of Jost Werke AG in Asia. The main focus of his activities was the fostering of growth and integration of the company's Asia activities into the overall corporate strategy. Prior to that, he spent several years working for a Japan based management consultancy, specializing in strategy implementation projects. His career began in 1995 at Webasto, where, from 1998 onwards, he oversaw the setting up of the Thermo Systems unit in Japan and Korea, subsequently moving on from there to Jost. Schädlich studied Production Technology at the Technical University of Munich.

Dr. Stephan Kessel, supervisory board chairman of Stabilus S.A., stated: "We are delighted to have Markus Schädlich join the Stabilus management board. He is an acknowledged Asia expert with a broad range of expertise in both the industrial and automotive supplier business. Stabilus's revenues have more than doubled since fiscal 2012, and we are responding to this positive development by expanding the company's management board."

From July 2018, the composition of the Stabilus S.A. management board will thus be as follows: Dietmar Siemssen (Chief Executive Officer), Mark Wilhelms (Chief Financial Officer), Markus Schädlich (Asia), Andreas Schröder (Group Financial Reporting Director), and Andreas Sievers (Group Accounting and Strategic Finance Projects Director). Supporting the board is an experienced international management team consisting of regional managing directors working alongside the heads of individual business units and central divisions.
